These ministers are appointed to aid in the distribution of Holy Communion to God's people at Mass as well as to the sick and homebound when there is a shortage of ordained clergy. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion provide a precious service to the Church in serving during times of need as scheduled.
January 2020 with Fr. Binoy:
Being an Altar Server provides our youth (Grade 3 and above who have received their Sacrament of First Communion) with an opportunity to participate in the Liturgy, serve the Lord, and develop leadership skills. The primary role of the altar server is to assist the priest in the celebration of the Liturgy. Altar Servers help the priest and the entire congregation praise God through active participation in the Liturgy. Adults, who have received their Sacrament of First Communion, are needed as well.
The Sacristans exercise a liturgical function and care fully arrange the liturgical books, the vestments, and other things necessary in the celebration of Mass.
Christ's ministry was one of hospitality, extending a hand and welcoming all with open arms! Following Christ's example, our Welcomers open doors and warmly greet all that come to worship with us. They assist people in finding seating, help with the collections, direct the assembly in approaching the altar for communion, and hand out bulletins.
Members of this ministry create a positive and appropriate worship experience through the handling of environmental factors such as flower arrangements, seasonal decorations, and adornment of the sanctuary.
